Chartreuse 1605 Liqueur d'Elixir is a blend of liqueur created for the first time in 2005 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the delivery of the Elixir de Longue Vie manuscript by the Duke to the Carthusian monks of Vauvert in Paris. This liqueur is inspired by the "Liqueur de Santé" of the early 19th century which in 1840 became the Green Chartreuse.
PREPARATION
It is made following the original formula that was given to the Carthusian fathers of Paris that contained the "Elixir of Life". A formula with more than 130 herbs and spices that would result in the Green Chartreuse although it is smoother than this one.
TASTING NOTES
Great aromatic and flavour complexity. Ideal as a digestive, served cold although nowadays it is increasingly used for cocktails.
BOTTLE
The original bottle has the symbol of the Carthusian Order engraved on it, characteristic of Chartreuse liqueurs. Smoked glass, cork stopper and dark green label.
