Nikka Yoichi is a Japanese Single Malt whiskey made by hand using methods from the past such as direct heating of coal. Yoichi's unique malt truly captures the authentic character of its exceptional location, with its refined notes of peat and coastline. It expresses a delicate balance between smoked, fruity and floral aromas.
TASTING NOTE
Vibrant golden color. On the nose a whiskey with body and very soft. At first we find a soft whiskey that becomes powerful over time, as the smoke, soot and salty notes transcend the initial nose. The luegon aromas evolve towards candied citrus fruits, black licorice and spices, and open with aromas of roots and dry twigs. It grows more and more and is more complex. The palate is firm and powerful with a well balanced attack. The average palate starts with chocolate notes but the peat soon takes the lead once again. Finally it appears long and silky.
AGING
A subtle mix of Yoichi barrels of various ages, of which a large part was matured in barrels of sherry.
